Canoeing/Kayaking on the river Morava
The river Morava offers ideal opportunities for tourists that like recreational canoeing/kayaking. Its conditions are suitable also for beginners.
This activity is quite popular among people from Bratislava, trying to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. That is why the majority of paddlers prefer waterways that end under the Devín castle.
Sections suitable for canoeing/kayaking
A suitable section is the Brodské – Devín waterway. The whole journey can take up to three days. It is also possible to bivouac on the river bank (sleep in the open air).
Canoeing/kayaking is possible also in shorter sections. For instance, the trip from Moravský Sv. Ján to Záhorská Ves takes 5-8 hours, from Záhorská Ves to Vysoká pri Morave 3-4 hours and from Vysoká pri Morave to Devín approximately 3-4 hours too.
The best time for canoeing/kayaking is the summer season from April to September. When the precipitation is higher, standing water may form mainly in the lower flow.
The boat and equipment rental H2O Adventures has a logistics base in the Zohor village, offering their services to paddlers on the river Morava. You can just plan your trip and they will bring and pick up the borrowed boat (canoe, kayak) at the agreed time and place. Further information on http://www.moravasplav.sk/.
